Mat progressed through several senior sales roles before taking charge of the Gloucester site. He leads three brands through a period of record performance and strong team development. His approach is driven by ambition, teamwork and culture.

How long have you been working at Mon Motors?

I joined Mon Motors in 2017, starting as a Transaction Manager at Bristol Volkswagen. The move into a family run business representing the UK’s number one selling brand felt like the right next step in my career, and it quickly became clear that the company offered genuine progression for those willing to work hard and push themselves.

What first attracted you to Mon Motors?

I wanted to work for a business with strong values, real opportunities for development and brands that I was proud to represent. The combination of being family run, holding respected franchises and offering a clear progression pathway made Mon Motors an ideal fit. It was a chance to grow within an environment that values people and supports ambition.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day is high energy and people focused. I thrive on the buzz of a busy showroom and enjoy working closely with the teams across Volkswagen, SEAT and CUPRA. My role involves supporting managers, driving performance, engaging with customers and ensuring the dealership delivers consistently strong results. No two days are the same, and that constant variety is what motivates me.

What is the team like at Gloucester?

The culture at Gloucester has transformed in recent years. We have built a team with genuine momentum, a strong work ethic and a shared belief in what we are achieving. There is a real buzz around the place, and I am incredibly proud of the culture we have created together. When you believe in your people and they believe in each other, the results follow.

Have you had any training or development opportunities since joining?

Yes, I completed the Volkswagen Sales Manager Accreditation Pathway, which played an important role in my development. I have also been fortunate to work with some excellent mentors across the Mon Motors group. Their guidance, support and experience have helped shape the leader I am today.
