Claire joined Mon Motors in 2021 with no previous motor trade experience. She quickly found her confidence and discovered a passion for customer service. Today, she is a valued part of the Škoda Gloucester team.

How long have you been working at Mon Motors?

I have been with Mon Motors since October 2021, starting as a Service Advisor at Škoda Gloucester. Coming from a background in food retail, it was a big change, but I settled in quickly and soon felt part of the team. Over time, I have gained experience, grown my confidence and developed a strong understanding of the industry. I have genuinely enjoyed every stage of the journey so far.

What first attracted you to Mon Motors?

In all honesty, discovering Mon Motors was pure luck. I came across the role on Indeed and, although the motor trade was completely new to me, the job description felt like something I could take on with confidence. During my interview with Neil, I felt an immediate sense of reassurance and trust. Even though I had no previous experience in the industry, he gave me an opportunity, and I grabbed it with both hands. That chance has shaped my entire career path.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day as a Service Advisor is busy, varied and rewarding. I spend most of my time supporting customers, booking vehicles in, keeping work flowing smoothly and making sure everyone has the information they need. No two days are the same, which keeps the role interesting.

I enjoy being the link between the workshop and our customers, helping people understand the work needed on their vehicles and ensuring they receive a positive experience from start to finish.

What's the team like at Škoda Gloucester? 

The team at Škoda Gloucester is fantastic. We get on like a family and look out for each other, which makes every day easier and more enjoyable. We challenge each other, have the occasional disagreement and share plenty of laughs, but the respect and support within the team is constant. It is a genuinely positive environment where everyone works hard towards the same goal.

Have you had any training or development opportunities since joining?

Training and development have been a big part of my journey. Achieving my accreditation was a major milestone and gave me a real sense of confidence in my role. I have also completed various courses and ongoing training opportunities that continue to strengthen my skills.

The Service Advisor training was a turning point for me, as it completely changed my outlook on the role for the better. Mon Motors has always encouraged growth, and I can feel how much I have progressed as a result.

Taking a chance on something completely new was the best decision I ever made.

What would you say to someone considering applying to Mon Motors?

I would absolutely recommend Mon Motors to anyone thinking about joining. It is a supportive business with opportunities hidden in every corner, and the people make the experience even better. Not every day is perfect, but no two days are the same, and that sense of variety makes the job exciting. If you are willing to learn, work hard and make the most of the opportunities around you, you will not be disappointed.
