How long have you been working at Mon Motors?
I have been with Mon Motors since 2006. I joined as a Parts Advisor while studying for my degree, and although I did not initially plan a long term career in the motor trade, the opportunities and the people made it an easy place to stay. Over time, I found my path within the IT side of the business and built a career I am genuinely proud of.
What first attracted you to Mon Motors?
At the time, I had a strong interest in cars, especially sporty Ford models, and I visited Newport Ford looking for part time work. I was a student, so staff discount was appealing, but I quickly realised the company had much more to offer. The environment was supportive, the opportunities were real and it was a place where hard work genuinely made a difference.
What does a typical day look like for you?
As Group IT Manager, no two days are the same. My role involves overseeing the IT Helpdesk, supporting staff across every site and ensuring our systems run smoothly. I am involved in planning and implementing new technologies, solving technical challenges and guiding the team as the business evolves. Every day brings something new to learn, a new project to develop or a new problem to solve, which keeps the role energising and engaging.
What is the team like at Mon Motors?
The IT team is one of reliability and dedication. They are hard working, supportive and always willing to go the extra mile for our colleagues across the business. We have a genuinely friendly and dependable culture, where we understand each other’s strengths and work together to deliver a consistently high standard of support. Their commitment is a major part of why our systems run effectively.
Have you had any training or development opportunities since joining?
Although I have not followed a formal training pathway, I have had countless opportunities to learn and develop through hands on experience. Working across such a varied business means I am constantly learning new skills, exploring new systems and adapting to the changing needs of the company. That natural progression has shaped my journey every bit as much as structured training would have.
