How long have you been working at Mon Motors?

I joined Mon Motors in October 2017 as Sales Development Manager at TPS Cardiff. Before that, I had already spent 11 years at TPS Swansea, so TPS has been a big part of my life and career since the day the operation was created. Moving to Mon Motors was a major milestone and opened the door to the leadership opportunities I have today.

What first attracted you to Mon Motors?

While working at TPS Swansea, I regularly attended meetings with the TPS Cardiff team. I often spoke with Jamie Bryant, who was the Sales Manager at the time, and what stood out most was the family feel he described and how invested Mon Motors was in the TPS operation. That level of support is not always present in other TPS centres. So when the opportunity came up to transfer, I knew instantly that I wanted to be part of it, regardless of the role.

What does a typical day look like for you?

The best part of my day is working with the team. They take full ownership of their responsibilities, buy into our objectives and consistently deliver results. In my opinion, I am managing the best team in the TPS network. A typical day involves leading the operation, supporting the management team, driving performance and working closely with our warehouse and sales teams to deliver an exceptional service to customers. The people make the role what it is.

What is the team like at TPS Cardiff?

Fantastic. I am incredibly proud of every person here. We have a strong, united team culture, backed by an equally strong management team. Dean Giles, our Warehouse Manager, and Daniel Parker, our Sales Manager, have been exceptional supports, and they embody the Mon Motors values. The whole site works together as one, and there is a genuine sense of pride in what we achieve collectively.

Have you had any training or development opportunities since joining?

Yes, many. I have completed numerous training courses over the years, but mentoring has had the biggest impact. Throughout my time at TPS Swansea I had managers who encouraged me and helped me take my first steps into leadership. More recently, the support I received from Gavin Fletcher has been instrumental. He backed me through the demanding three stage application process for the Centre Manager role and championed me when TPS’ recruitment strategy was typically to look outside the motor trade. Without his guidance, I might never have considered managing a centre. I am also grateful for the support Mon Motors has given me from day one.

It’s not just about the work, it’s about the people.

What would you say to someone considering applying to Mon Motors?

Do it. You will not be disappointed. Mon Motors is a genuinely family run business that has kept the family feel at its core. People are supported, valued and encouraged to progress. If you want to work somewhere that believes in its teams and gives them the platform to succeed, it is the right place to be.
