Do you qualify for the Motability Scheme?
Volkswagen Motability Scheme eligibility explained
Before browsing our latest Motability offers and price list, it’s important to confirm that you qualify for the scheme. You’ll be eligible if you receive one of the following mobility allowances with at least 12 months remaining:
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP):
- Enhanced rate mobility part of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Veterans UK:
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

How does the Motability Scheme work
Starting your vehicle lease with Mon Motors is designed to be clear and straightforward. Begin by exploring our available offers to find a model that fits your needs and lifestyle.
Your regular payments are made on a fixed schedule and are designed to cover many of the ongoing costs of running your vehicle. Depending on your agreement, this can include insurance, servicing and maintenance, MOTs, breakdown assistance, tyres and windscreen repairs, helping to keep ownership simple and predictable.
Lease agreements typically run for three years. When your contract ends, you may be able to renew with a new vehicle, extend your current agreement subject to eligibility, or return the vehicle and choose your next steps.
Some vehicles may require an advance payment at the start of the agreement. This is a one-off cost, separate from your regular payments. Optional extras and upgrades are available and are priced individually.
Once you’ve chosen your vehicle, our team will guide you through the application process and manage the paperwork for you. When everything is complete, you can collect your new vehicle from our dealership

How long does a Motability lease last?
Most Motability agreements last for three years. However, if you lease a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), these usually last for five years.

Is there an upfront payment required for a Motability vehicle?
Some vehicles are available with no upfront cost, but others may require an Advance Payment. This is a one-off, non-refundable fee paid to the dealership that covers the difference between your mobility allowance and the total cost of the car you choose.
Can I personalise my Motability vehicle with extras or accessories?
Yes, you can choose to add optional extras or accessories when placing your order. However, any additional features you select will usually come with an extra charge, which is paid separately and not covered by the scheme.
How do I book a test drive for a Motability vehicle?
Arranging a test drive is easy. Simply contact your nearest Mon Motors dealership. Our Motability Specialists will be happy to help you experience the vehicles first-hand and answer any questions about suitability or features.
What happens when my Motability lease ends?
As your lease comes to an end, you have several options:
- Lease another new vehicle
- Extend your current lease (subject to eligibility)
