Business car leasing - also known as Business Contract Hire (BCH) - works in a similar way to Personal Contract Hire (PCH) but is designed exclusively for business customers. With BCH, you pay an initial rental followed by fixed monthly payments (excluding VAT) for the duration of the agreement, with the option to include servicing and maintenance.
Whether you’re a fleet manager sourcing 50+ vans for drivers and employees, or an SME looking to lease a small number of company cars, we'll work with any eligible business to arrange a lease plan that fits your needs and budget.

Why choose business leasing?
Business leasing is a cost-effective way of driving the latest new car and van models without having to pay for them in full, or have the obligation to buy them at the end of the agreement.
For businesses who want to upgrade company cars for their employees, or upgrade an entire fleet of vehicles, business leasing – known as Business Contract Hire (BCH) – provides the ideal solution.
Business leasing is available to lots of different types of businesses – not just large companies; even a sole trader may be eligible to qualify for a BCH and could find it a more suitable option than taking out a personal contract hire agreement.
Businesses eligible for a business leasing/BCH agreement can include:
- Sole trader with a bank account in the sole trading name
- VAT-registered company
- Partnership with two or more partners working in the business
- Public limited company (PLC)
- Private limited company
- Limited liability partnership (LLP)
- Registered charity
Business Contract Hire explained
How does business leasing work?
Whatever the model or brand of vehicle – a Cupra business lease, Škoda business lease or other – business leasing typically follows a simple structure. It’s a straight lease arrangement, involving an initial rental fee followed by a series of fixed monthly payments. The length of the agreement can vary – that can often be negotiated – but tends to be 24-36 months.
There will be an annual mileage limit included in the agreement. This is the maximum mileage the vehicle can cover in each year of the agreement, and if this is exceeded there will be additional charges to pay. For example, an Audi business lease for an A6 Avant may have an annual mileage of 8,000 miles with a 36-month agreement. That’s 24,000 miles over the 36 months/3 years. For every mile over the allowance of 24,000 recorded, there will be an excess mileage charge. How much that is can differ but can be around 9-10p per mile.
It’s important for any business or fleet manager to give careful consideration to the likely mileage needs when taking out a business lease or BCH.
At the conclusion of the business lease, and when any additional costs have been met – there may be fair and reasonable wear and tear charges to pay – the vehicles are returned to the lender. There are no options to purchase the vehicle/s but new agreements on new models can be obtained.

The benefits of Business Leasing
The latest models, low-cost investment, no depreciation concerns, opportunities to claim back VAT – there are a host of benefits when it comes to business leasing.
Compared to buying a brand new vehicle, leasing one through a business requires much less capital outlay and there’s no longer-term commitment to paying for the car or van in full. This can be particularly beneficial for small or one-person businesses who might not have the means to invest larger sums in a vehicle. A series of fixed monthly payments is often more manageable. And, when a business leases a vehicle, the finance provider is the owner of the vehicle, so it’s not reported as a liability sum on your balance sheet.
If the business is VAT registered, it can reclaim the VAT paid on monthly payments. This is as much as 100% if the vehicle is used exclusively for business purposes only, but if someone is also driving the car outside of work – an employee with a company car for example – 50% of the VAT can be reclaimed.
Taking out a business lease with Audi finance, VW finance or one of our other lenders means companies can not only access the very latest models, equipped with the latest software and technology, but also upgrade to new cars every few years. The business doesn’t have the responsibility of selling a vehicle or vehicles in order to purchase replacements, nor be concerned about managing the depreciation of the vehicles. This can be a big benefit when dealing with a fleet of cars or vans.
With many business leasing deals offering all-in service and maintenance packages for vehicles too – included at additional cost to the monthly payments – the whole process of driving and looking after a car or van can be smooth and stress-free.
Flexible, cost-effective and offering tax advantages – it’s easy to see why a business leasing agreement is such a popular option.
