What is a Motability Advance Payment?

An Advance Payment is a one-off amount you pay at the start of your Motability lease, in addition to your weekly Motability allowance.
It is not a deposit and is non-refundable. The payment covers the difference between your allowance and the full cost of the vehicle for the duration of your lease.
When you search for a vehicle, the required Advance Payment will be clearly shown. Some vehicles require no Advance Payment, while others cost less than your allowance, allowing you to keep the remaining amount to spend as you choose.
