When you choose an electric vehicle through the Motability Scheme, you’ll benefit from practical and cost-effective charging support, whether you’re able to charge at home or rely on public chargepoints.
If you have access to off-street parking, such as a driveway, a Motability home charger with standard installation is provided at no extra cost. While installation is free, you can maximise your savings by switching to an EV-specific electricity tariff with your energy supplier. These tariffs can offer significantly lower rates, with some starting from around 7p per kWh (depending on the supplier), making home charging particularly cost-effective.
If you’re unable to have a home charger installed — or if one has already been provided through the Scheme — you’ll receive complimentary membership to the bp pulse public charging network. This provides access to thousands of chargepoints across the UK, with discounted rates. For example, bp pulse members typically pay around 44p per kWh on a standard 7kW charger, compared to 59p for pay-as-you-go users*.
Whichever charging option applies to you, you’ll also receive access to the Motability Go Charge card and app, giving you a simple way to manage payments and locate over 58,000 public chargepoints across a wide range of networks.

What is included with a Motability lease?
When you lease a vehicle through the Motability Scheme, you’ll receive a comprehensive package that covers insurance for up to three named drivers, routine servicing, maintenance, breakdown assistance, tyre and windscreen repairs, and road tax.
If you choose an electric vehicle, the lease also includes a home chargepoint with standard installation or access to the bp pulse charging network for convenient public charging.

How long does a Motability lease last?
Most Motability agreements last for three years. However, if you lease a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), these usually last for five years.

Is there an upfront payment required for a Motability vehicle?
Some vehicles are available with no upfront cost, but others may require an Advance Payment. This is a one-off, non-refundable fee paid to the dealership that covers the difference between your mobility allowance and the total cost of the car you choose.
Can I personalise my Motability vehicle with extras or accessories?
Yes, you can choose to add optional extras or accessories when placing your order. However, any additional features you select will usually come with an extra charge, which is paid separately and not covered by the scheme.
How do I book a test drive for a Motability vehicle?
Arranging a test drive is easy. Simply contact your nearest Mon Motors dealership. Our Motability Specialists will be happy to help you experience the vehicles first-hand and answer any questions about suitability or features.
What happens when my Motability lease ends?
As your lease comes to an end, you have several options:
- Lease another new vehicle
