What does a Škoda MOT test include?

Last updated on the 2nd February 2026

During your Škoda MOT test, our Škoda-trained technicians follow a thorough checklist and inspect various aspects of your vehicle, including brakes, gears, tyres, headlights, and more. Their findings determine whether your Škoda passes or fails the MOT.

If your Škoda passes, it is deemed safe to drive on UK roads for the next year. You will receive a VT20 test certificate, which should be kept safe. This certificate also shows the date when your vehicle will need its next MOT.

Even if your vehicle passes, the certificate may still highlight minor or advisory issues. These are not serious enough to cause a failure but should be monitored and potentially repaired to prevent problems in the future.

If your vehicle fails, the certificate will list the major or dangerous faults that caused the failure. Many of these are simple repairs that can be carried out at our Škoda dealerships by our team of Škoda-approved Technicians. All repairs use genuine Škoda parts, which come with a two-year warranty.

Once the faults have been addressed, your vehicle can be retested at Mon Motors for free, provided this is done within 10 working days.
