Meet the new Ford Transit Skeletal Chassis Cab
With the Ford Transit Skeletal Chassis Cab, all the hallmark attributes of the standard Transit come as standard, but the low chassis design is specifically optimised for specialist conversions. This makes it an ideal choice for applications such as motorhomes, emergency service vehicles, minibuses, and other bespoke builds.
One of the key benefits of the Skeletal Chassis Cab is its open configuration: with no rear bulkhead, it is ready for fully integrated, coach-built bodies. The cabs can also be specified without a roof or with specific features to suit particular body styles, including long-arm door mirrors for enhanced visibility. For camper and motorhome conversions, there is even a fully adjustable ‘captain chair’ driver’s seat, providing comfort and flexibility for long journeys.
Powering the Transit Skeletal Chassis Cab is the proven 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine, available in two power outputs: 130PS or 165PS, with torque figures of 360Nm and 390Nm respectively.
The front-wheel-drive layout provides greater usable space along the chassis rails, giving bodybuilders more flexibility when designing and fitting specialised bodies. Combined with a generous body-and-payload allowance of up to 1,864kg, the Transit Skeletal Chassis Cab offers the versatility, capability, and adaptability that professional operators and conversion specialists need to create the perfect vehicle for their specific requirements.

Chassis sizes to suit a range of bodies
We go to great lengths
Ford Transit Skeletal Chassis Cabs are available in a variety of overall lengths, designed to accommodate a wide range of body styles and sizes. Overall lengths range from 5,321mm to 6,370mm, resulting in chassis frame lengths between 2,951mm and 4,000mm. Depending on the chosen length, rear axle track can be specified between 1,759mm and 1,980mm.
All versions are capable of towing a braked trailer of up to 2,800kg if required, making them a versatile choice for businesses needing both payload and towing flexibility.
Inside, the cabs maintain the high standards expected from the Transit range. Standard equipment includes a SYNC 4 touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a built-in 5G modem, ensuring both convenience and connectivity. Safety features are comprehensive, with lane-keeping assistance, traffic sign recognition, and tyre pressure monitoring systems fitted as standard to support driver confidence and reduce risk.
Upgrading to Trend specification adds further comfort and technology. This includes air-conditioning, a Quickclear heated windscreen, and a digital rear-view camera, enhancing usability for both daily driving and operational efficiency. These features make the Transit Skeletal Chassis Cab a practical, reliable, and well-equipped option for commercial users who demand flexibility, safety, and modern connectivity in a robust work vehicle.
